What is a Registered Agent?
A Registered Agent is also known as a Resident Agent or Statutory Representation. They act on a company’s behalf to receive legal documents such as service of process (e.g. liens, subpoenas, deposition notices, etc.). Additional services include handling of annual report notifications, tax correspondence and other notifications from regulatory agencies. The registered agent must maintain a street address (not a P.O. box) within the jurisdiction and be available during business hours.
